There is a time when every kid is under the care of his or her parents and they are responsible for every action and decision of the kid’s life. Field trips are vital and common all over the world and attending these is really necessary for the proper knowledge and education of students these days. Field trips broaden the vision of students about practical life and provide them an opportunity to experience what they study in the classroom, out in the real life.

Attending these trips is recommended by the school but the students who are still minors and under parent’s or guardian’s care, for such students, the school administration needs to have permission from the caretakers (parents, etc.) to accompany them for a field trip. This can’t only be the field trip scenario but any other trips where the kids need to leave the school premises, the administration needs to have permission from the parents. Trip permission slips are hence created and sent by the school to parents so that the school has permission from the parents on paper and any problems can be avoided in any case.

Preparing a Trip Permission Slip

To design a school field trip permission slip, one does not have to be very expert in the documentation. These slips comprise simple text with fillable spaces left, and anyone with little know-how about typing can do this. Only a few essential points should be kept in mind. Take a look at the following:

• The title should be clearly mentioned at the top and center of the trip permission slip as FIELD TRIP PERMISSION FORM or TRIP PERMISSION FORM.
• Following the title, a small statement about the trip description is made where a parent or guardian is informed about the nature and reason for the trip arranged by the school. They are requested to fill in with their consent and to return by a specific date.
• It is a good idea to leave a space blank for a date so that one form can be reused multiple times by just printing it instead of re-designing the whole form.
• The information about the trip should be mentioned afterward. Make this portion with blank spaces against each point so that the form can be a multi-time usable form for field trips in the future. Include fields like LOCATION, PURPOSE, DATE, COST (if any applicable), CASH PAYABLE TO (any authoritative person or department), TRANSPORTATION, and TIME OF LEAVING AND ARRIVING FROM AND AT SCHOOL, etc.
• Any special instructions about safety concerns or items to be brought along should be mentioned in the form.
• The ending portion will have spaces to be filled by parents for their names and the corresponding student, the consent of parents about the permission for the trip, their signatures, contact numbers in case of any emergency, and house address.
