Choose from seven editable wanted poster templates for Microsoft Word. The first two show a dog on a vintage or plain white background and can be adapted into a missing-pet notice. The other five are dramatic, old-fashioned “wanted” designs suited to a Western-themed party, classroom activity, play, or fictional prop. Preview the layouts below before downloading.

Each preview has its own download. Extract the Word file from the ZIP, save a working copy, and replace the photo and every piece of sample text. The pet previews show an illustrative $10,000 reward; that is sample content, not an amount you should promise.

How to Make a Missing-Pet Poster

1. Use a clear, recent photo. Choose a picture that shows your pet’s face and distinctive markings. The first two downloads already provide dog-photo layouts.
2. Write a specific heading. “LOST DOG” or “MISSING CAT” communicates the situation more clearly than the sample WANTED text.
3. Add useful details. Include the pet’s name, size, color, identifying marks, last-seen date and general location, and any instructions that could help someone approach the animal safely.
4. Provide a contact method. Use a phone number or other reachable contact that you are comfortable sharing publicly. A home street address is usually unnecessary on a public notice.
5. Review any reward claim. Replace the example $10,000 text. Only state an amount or terms you genuinely intend to honor, or remove the reward field.
6. Proof and distribute. Print one copy to check photo quality and readability from a short distance. Share it in appropriate local places and online groups where permitted.

For a general announcement, you can also browse our flyer collection. The beach party poster and fun fair posters are better suited to promoting an event than searching for a pet.

Using a Wanted Poster as a Party Prop

The Western-style designs are most appropriate for a fictional character at a themed party, theater production, or school activity. Replace real-sounding allegations, fake police directions, offensive language, and “dead or alive” wording with a harmless fictional description. Do not imply that an actual person is accused of a crime or that the poster is an official notice.

Pair a themed poster with a spring event poster for another promotional style, or compare our adventure tour posters if the event calls for an outdoor theme.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many files are available?

There are seven individual ZIP downloads. The first two contain DOC files; downloads 3–7 contain DOCX files.

Can I edit them in Microsoft Word?

Yes. Extract the archive and open the Word file. The first two use the older DOC format, so check their layout in your version of Word after editing.

Which design is best for a lost pet?

Start with design 1 for the vintage background or design 2 for a plain white background. Replace the dog picture and example reward with your own details.

Can I save the finished poster as a PDF?

After editing in Word, use Save As or Export to create a PDF, then inspect the result before printing. The downloads here are Word files packaged in ZIP archives.
